Before we get ahead of ourselves, this week we have some exciting new resources for your classroom to celebrate National Poetry Month and support students to learn and practice grammar rules. Grammar Warm-Up Packet (Middle School) Get it here A series of grammar warm-up resources was one of the top teacher requests when we sent out our latest survey. We started by creating the elementary resource, which you can download and print here, and this week we are adding the middle school resource. It can be challenging to find time to prioritize grammar instruction, but we all know that in order for students to become proficient writers, they need to know grammar rules and apply them to their own writing. I used to tell my students, “your writing loses power when it is peppered with grammatical errors,” and while we all make an occasional mistake, I believe it is essential for us to teach our students these rules. There are ten warm-ups for your students in this packet that was created by an English teacher and grammar expert. Each exercise is designed to take students from five to seven minutes, the time that is usually spent on a bellringer or activator. However, you can also use these short exercises during a Daily 5, Station Rotation, or work on them together as a whole class. The National institute of mental Health discovered that, â€Å"An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — about one in four adults — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.† Having an uncle who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in 2003 has changed the way I see people with mental illnesses. After reading and watching the documentary about prisoners who have to undergo medication just to live a â€Å"normal† life has given me inspiration to come up with a few ways that will help our justice system deal with these sorts of individuals. Othello is a play about the desperate need for certainty The theme of certainty pervades the play from the opening scence, and as it progresses, the quest for certainty becomes more desperate and frantic; not only within the minds and actions of the characters, but also within the audience as we become desperate to know and understand the outcome of Iago’s malicous plan. Shakespeare introduces the protaginist, Othello, to the audience through the malicious and predujiced tongues of Iago, Roderigo and Brabantio. Iago condemns Othello for favouritism and shows obscenley to Brabantio that Othello is an ‘old black ram’, the ‘devil’, a ‘barbary horse’ copulating with his daughter. At first, Othello appears to be confident of Desdemona’s love for him as he declares she ‘had eyes and chose me’. Iago however finds weakness in Othello’s certainty and seizing his oppurtunity, advises Othello to watch Cassio and Desdemona discreetly. He adds that, of his own well-founded knowledge, Venetian wives decieve their husbands; that Desdemona pretended to fear Othello, when in fact she loved him, and that she decieved her father so completley that he believed she was bewitched. Unable to deny these, Othello draws the disturbing inference. Suspicion takes root, and is revealed by his hesitant ‘I do not think Desdemona’s honest’, and his command that Emilia be set to watch Desdemona. He is desperate to find truth, and underlying doubts about his marriage may have escelated by Iago’s revelation and Othello is eventually driven to find this certianty in his own shortcomings- his blackness, age and unpolished manners. Iago’s evil has infiltrated Othello’s soul and has induced him, as Iago had hoped, ‘to renounce his baptism, all seals and symbols of redemmed sin. The noble image that Desdemona saw in Othello’s mind has become corrupted, and and not before long is he humiliating her through false prophecy, and he fails to see the unreason of punishing Desdemona for a crime she has not commited. In the end, Othello is desperate to relieve himself of all guilt and is certain the the demi-devil has ‘ensnared’ his soul and body. Desdemona is another charcter who clings desperatly on to her certainty that Othello is a kind and loving husband. In her innocece, she finds it impossible to believe that there are women who are unfaithful to their husbands in spite of Emilia’s down to earth admission. In the last dreadful scence she maintains her innocence and pleads for mercy. Her chastity, loyalty, her whole- hearted commital to her husband’s welfare and to any good deed is the only pure certianty throughout the play, and Desdemona unfortunatly cannot make Othello see this. Emilia fiercy defends Desdemona throughout the play and is certain she would never disobey her husband. Ironically, she admits that she would ‘make her husband a cuckhold’ in order to ‘make him a monarch’, however clings to her husband’s integrity as she testifies to his vileness and Desdemona’s virtue. Furthermore, I asked the staffs about the documentation error policy. It is saying that no project will be successful without knowing its outcomes. After the implementation I performed an evaluation of my presentation. After providing them the session on documentation, I found t nursing staffs were able to clarify their concepts about the documentation and its error policy. To observe the base line knowledge among staff regarding nursing documentation. For that purpose, I have utilized evaluation tool on nursing documentation formulated by me, after preceptors guidance and approval. (See results of evaluation (Refer Appendix B). The implementation analysis indicates that 85% of my project went successfully (Refer Appendix C). In addition, staff participated well; share the realistic examples related clinical. Moreover, suggested to have these kinds of sessions on quarterly basis so that to improve the knowledge. Furthermore, also suggested to have an activity on nursing notes so that they can bring change in documentation practices. Limitations: Time period for project was short that is why unable to involve all staff in implementation of the project. Another reason for not attending the session by staff was, most of the staffs were busy in providing care to the patient. Moreover, for the evaluation of project I have two weeks in identifying needs, selecting priority issue, observations, assessment and evaluation of the project which was a great challenge for me. Furthermore, lack of resources was a big issue as Learning Resource Center was full most of the time and lots of budgeting issues for assessment, evaluation and on articles but with the great support of preceptor and ongoing facilitation by my facilitator made my life easy in the completion of running the project successfully, smoothly and timely. Recommendations: There are certain recommendations in regards of nursing documentation. Policy of Documentation should be reviewed on daily basis in unit for the knowledge and bring improvement in nursing documentation. Secondly, sessions, quizzes on the nursing documentation should be conducted every month by assigned nursing staffs or Clinical Nurse Instructor (CNI) in order to observe staff knowledge. Furthermore, 8 steps of audit checklist need to be followed and referred. Moreover, nursing documentation should be done by utilizing audit tool every quarterly, for the improvement of practices and monitoring of compliance to documentation policy. Conclusion: To conclude, I will say that documentation plays a vital role in nursing practice because this communicates health care providers about patient assessment, planning, interventions and evaluation of the patient condition. Moreover, it an ethical issue that is a legal documentation and ultimately this safe staff for any legal actions. Documentation shows honesty and care for the patient which should be done on time. If care is not documented, it means its not done. In the last, I would say that this project enhanced my learning. It provided me an opportunity to work as a team member with staff, Head Nurse (HN) and Clinical Nurse Instructor (CNI). This project also enhanced my leadership style what I learned the concept in class. Despite of all this, the project helped me to work independently and to study about nursing documentation in depth. Moreover I learned to integrate new concepts and model that would further help me in my profession career.

Poverty has been going through a feminization process in the recent decades. The overwhelming majority of those in poverty and those affected by poverty have been women recently. The trend has been set by the thousand of working women that head a single parent household. These women work and work and still are barely able to support their family. There are also other things impacting the feminization of poverty. One issue that has had a huge impact is the mass incarceration across the country. The men that would otherwise be working to help support a family are in prison, and when they get out of prison, they either can’t get a job or they can’t find a place to live. This causes poverty to become even more feminized by taking away a large amount of male help, and not allowing the families that are reunited to get welfare. Another issue associated with the feminization of poverty is the simple fact that women get payed less for the same jobs as a man would. Purely on the basis of their sex, the women are doomed to make 77 cents to every man’s dollar. In addition to their gender, if a woman is of color, any color other than white, she will make even less. Hispanics for example can make as low as 72 cents to every man’s dollar. With the combination of all of these issues, women are continually held back by regulations and by circumstances that they can’t avoid. These are not all of the issues associated with the feminization of poverty, but these are several of the main ones.
